I think, stopping aid to Africa is not a humanistic decision but in the same time we can not say that aid is not permanent solution. All the world know the problems of famine and poverty in Africa have reached epidemic proportions. Many countries have helped the continent to supply basic needs of African people but till to now , it is not said to reducestarvation ,water shortage and epidemics. Millions of people are stil dying because of primitive causes like malnutrition and remediable disases. In this case, Western countries can not stop helping to Africa because assistance have a vital importance to keep these people alive.
However, it is obvious that the problems in Africa are not solved by only sending medicine and food aid. Western governments must get to the root of the matter. The reasons of poverty and famine are weak administrations, difficulty of market access and to not be made sufficent investments in agrilculture. Enhancing productivity and abolish trade barries in Africa will be important steps to eradicate poverty and starvation . Also, education is an important tool to prevent the spread of HIV and provide the growth in Africa.
Furthermore, this continent is struggling with civil wars and conflicts besides poverty and malnutrition but developed countries just observe this desperate situation passively. These countries regard assistance as a part of their state politics. For instance, big part of food aid in Africa serve missionary work. If we think Africa had efficient agrilcultural areas and rich mine sources in the past , present situation of Africa is so ironic. Colinial policies that were carried out by the West lead the poverty of Africa. Therefore, these actions must be a charge or apology . not only aid. Hence, African people need radical solutions to exist in the world so other societies should help them for this purpose. Because we do not ignore people who share the same world with us.
