Can Turks be trusted with their own future?

I think that the ruling elite should give a chance to Turks in order to express themselves, think independently and participate in a political system and this class should not make all the vital decisions for determining the future of Turkey. One of the aims that Turkey is determined to achieve is to complete its path through being a member of the European Union by maintaining fully the principles of democracy within its structure. According to the Kinzer's text, the author highlights that Turks should maintain the "true democracy"(Kinzer) for removing obligations that hamper Turkey in making its dreams come true. Furthermore, Kinzer evokes that in this kind of political system that Turks are dreaming of and in the governments that are embodied with full of principles of democracy, the attitude of the ruling elite that abuses absolute power can not be seen or experienced and thus it must be entirely altered. Throughout the traces of the new Turkish republic that was established by Atatürk and his friends in the hostile climate, our duty is to review today's political system and our objective is to take into consideration of making this nation standing on a prosperous and free land. In my opinion, our first step should be making the ruling elite trust Turks just like Atatürk did and remember the Turkish zeal and ambition in order to come true their dreams by allowing them to participate in deciding for the future of Turkey.

Moreover I believe that the ruling elite not merely seems as considering the ignorance of Turks to hamper their participation in the political life but at the same time it is afraid of losing control all over the populace, because I suppose that the one who has the dominance and holds the power in its hands never tries to give up its control and power. It is human nature. Therefore, the ruling elite asserts the ignorance and immature attitude of Turks in order to accomplish to be the only chair in making decisions for the future of Turkey without giving opportunity for Turks contributing to politics. Consequently, if the true development is wanted in political, social and economic means, the ruling elite should give up to put Turks into the immature status and should not continue making all decisions for Turks and it has to try to realize Turks' ability and ambition in order to develop this nation with the "true democracy"(Kinzer).
