Comments on Blog
I think Blog is very helpful and useful. It is very easy and practical. And I think the fact that we can write it in semi formal language will allow us to get use to transfering from speaking language to formal language.
The initial goals are as follows: -To keep in close communication with your classmates and teacher, commenting and asking questions when necessary. -To practise and improve your writing and critical thinking skills by regularly posting assignments to the blog and receiving peer and teacher feedback. -To improve your reading speed and ability to guess unknown words as you scan through blog posts. -To find sources of help for improving your academic skills. -To share useful resources about social issues (films, readings, podcasts and so on). -To increase your confidence in using social software.
Blogging guidelines
1. Spend some time drafting your post (on paper or using a word processor) before publishing it online for everyone to read. Remember that this blog can be viewed by the wider Internet community, so let's show them how well you can write. 2. Use semi-formal academic English when responding to writing assignment prompts. Discussions can be a little more informal. No "wass up man" type of language please! 3. Always type carefully and proofread your work. Be careful of ı and i on the Turkish keyboard. 4. When asked to give feedback on other students' work, be honest yet tactful. 5. The quality and frequency of your posts/comments will be assessed as part of your Assignments grade.
